Shock is life threatening conditions:
That happens when the body isn't getting enough blood flow.it can damage vital organs and the heart.
It shouldn't be confused with emotional shock.
Causes of shock:
Shock can be caused by anything that reduces blood flow
such as heart problems, like a heart attack or heart failure.
severe internal or external bleeding,
losing bodily fluid,
or severe allergic reactions or infections.
If somebody has any of these conditions they may develop shock
and you may need to treat for shock as well.
The signs of shock are:
Paleness of the face, cold, clammy hands,
fast, shallow breathing,
confusion,
yawning or sighing,
and in some cases a loss of consciousness.
What you should do:
If someone has shock, lay him or her down with his head low & their legs raiised & supported.
This will increase blood flow to the head.
Then, if you haven't already done so,
call for an ambulance and say that you think someone has shock
and what may have caused it.
Loosen any tight clothing around the neck, chest and waist
as this can constrict blood flow.
Fear and panic can make shock worse,
because it increases the body's need for oxygen.
So, while you wait for the ambulance to come,
keep the casualty calm, comfortable and warm - you can use a coat or blanket.
Make sure you reassure the casualty.
Everything will be OK.
if they lose consciousness, open their airway, check their breathing
and be prepared to treat for an unconscious casualty.
